NICKELL, Charlotte Thompson - Fountain County INGenWeb Project

Mrs. Ayliffe Nickell of Marshall, age 78, died Thursday morning, December 25, in Castle Shannon Nursing Home. She was born in Fountain County, May 20, 1902, the daughter of Clay and Florence Ewbank Thompson. April 3, 1921, she married Von Nickell, who survives.

  Mrs. Nickell formerly owned and operated Gypville Restaurant and had been a deputy auditor for Parke County. She was a 50-year member and past matron of Wallace OES, past deputy of District 16 and past royal matron of Amaranth. She was also a member of Marshall Women’s Club.

  Surviving also are a son, Richard of Fort Wayne; a sister, Mrs. Shirley Martin of Marshall; and eight grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Rose Redmaster.

  The body was taken from Rice Funeral Home to the Marshall Baptist Church for funeral services Sunday afternoon. Rev. Dean Bowman officiated and burial was in Wolf Creek Cemetery. -s
